Angle of Jaw Implants (or Fat Transfer) aids patients who do not like the look of narrow jaws where the angle is too soft. Some like the angle to be well defined giving a chiseled look. These implants are placed through the mouth outside the boney jaw and placed at the angle where they become secured in place. Understanding Jaw Implants

The best candidate for an angle of jaw implant is a physically healthy man or woman who has realistic expectations and is interested in enhancing the appearance of a weak or narrow jaw. Jaw surgery is often performed with general anesthesia and can take place in a surgeon's office-based facility, a hospital, or an outpatient surgical center. The procedure itself typically takes between one and two hours to perform.

After surgery, patients an expect mild to moderate discomfort, and smiling, talking and moving the mouth may be difficult at first. Swelling can occur and, though much of it will fade within several days, some specific swelling can remain for anywhere from two weeks to several months. Stitches are typically removed or dissolve within five to ten days. Most patients are able to return to work within about a week, though it can take two weeks before you look socially acceptable. More strenuous activities, including any activities which risk bumping or jarring the face, will need to be avoided for four to six weeks.
