Hyaluronic Acid.       

Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance  widely distributed in our body.  Common injectable dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid.  The injected hyaluronic acid combines with water in the skin to restore lost of fullness and smooth out wrinkles.  The popular dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid are Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Perlane, and Teosyal.  These filler last from six months to up to 18 months depending on the individual, location of the injection and how current they keep up the maintenance of the injection. Juvederm and Restylane are very effective for plumping thin lips, filling in wrinkles around the nose area and giving volume where it’s needed on the face.  Hyaluronic acid is gaining popularity for injections to the nose to smooth out a hump or achieving height.  As well, Juvederm is poplular for injections to the hands to fill in where you have lost volume.

Hydroxylapatite (Radiesse^®)

RADIESSE^® Volumizing Filler is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier.  It is the heaviest of facial fillers and is recommended to fill deeper creases such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, as well as to enhance fullness of the cheeks and other facial contours. Results of this injectable filler last from six months to one year. 

Benefits of chemical peel treatments:

• Acne. Severe acne can be embarrassing and annoying for many. A chemical peel to treat acne can be performed quickly. The skin is exfoliated using salycylic peel, allowing for the removal of dead skin cells, excess oil, and blockages or pollutants that can clog pores.  Chemicals peels can help the reduction in visible acne and pore size.

Laser hair removal treatments are performed over a series of treatments usually 6 weeks apart Depending on the treatment area generally 6- 8 treatments maybe needed.  During the treatment, our experience laser technicians will make sure your comfort is the utmost importance and you will only experience a very mild discomfort or none at all.  After the treatment, you may experience mild redness and some sensitivity for a couple of day.  The hair in the treated area will start to shed and fall off.  Between treatments, only shaving is permitted. In the past, it was common to feel that people who undergo plastic surgery are perfectionists and that even after their surgery they will feel that their body isn’t perfect. Without scientific research, it was easy to believe that plastic surgery wouldn’t increase happiness in people who went under the knife since patients would just crave another procedure after the one just completed.

However, the latest research done by Dr. Jürgen Margraf from the Ruhr University Bochum has discovered that plastic surgery makes people happier. People who have undergone plastic surgery were tested three, six, and twelve months after their procedure. Margraf’s research discovered that people who had undergone plastic surgery were happier than those who did not have a procedure. The study which examined 544 people found that people who had undergone surgery felt better about their bodies. This study concluded that cosmetic surgery has a high level of success in the realm of human psychology.

This study looked at whether people who undergo plastic surgery are different than the general population. This research looked at over 500 first-time patients and compared them to 264 people who wanted surgery, but haven’t gone through with it. It also looked at 1,000 people who are not interested in being operated on. The people who are most interested in improving their looks are young people with above average income.

If you are thinking about plastic surgery, don’t hesitate to consult a doctor. It is important to find a licensed plastic surgeon and discuss with him or her, the procedure you would like to undergo. Before going under the knife, talk to former patients of the surgeon to check out the quality of his or her work. However, don’t worry too much about plastic surgery since now there is scientific evidence to show that it makes people happier while improving self-confidence.

Out-of-Hospital Premises inspection now made public by the College of Phsycians and Surgeons of Ontario.

As of January 31, 2013, the By-law passed by the College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario will now make the inspections results public.  This is great news for the public as we will know through the College inspections that the facilities are properly equipped and staffed in the interest of patient safety.  With the new by-law, the public will now be able to search the most current status of the premises inspections.   To search a facility, visit the College website at http://www.cpso.on.ca/publicregister/default.aspx?id=7376.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario will review the facility to assess premise requirements including the procedure and operating room, staff qualifications, infection control standars and quality assurance activity.

To date, 251 private medical clinics was inspected, 9 failed assessments because they were found to be putting patients at risk, 64 passed with conditions and 178 passed.
