Learn More About Fat Transfer
The best candidate for fat transfer injections is a physically healthy man or woman who is realistic in their expectations and looking to improve the appearance of the facial skin. Fat transfer procedures typically take under an hour to perform and most take place in a surgeon's office-based facility. Local anesthesia is often used on the donor and recipient sites, though some patients may also receive sedation.
Swelling, bruising and redness can occur. Nevertheless, there is very little downtime associated with fat transfer procedures and most patients find that they can return to work and other normal activities right away. Sun exposure should be avoided for the first forty-eight hours or until the redness and bruising have subsided. The potential complications that can occur with fat transfer injections include infection, adverse anesthesia reaction, hematoma, asymmetry, and excess scar tissue. |
