Lip Reduction

Lip Reduction Toronto

Some ethnic groups as well as Caucasians have lips that are too full. Usually it is the lower lip, but can be the upper lip. A small amount of the inner part of the lips is removed to reduce the vertical height of the red lip. Post-operatively, there is some swelling but in 2 weeks most patients are socially acceptable.

Understanding Lip Reduction Surgery

The best candidate for lip reduction is a physically healthy man or woman who is realistic in their expectations and looking to reduce their lip size. It's typically recommended that the procedure only be performed on younger patients once their facial features have matured, around the mid to late teens. Lip reduction typically takes between one and two hours to complete and can take place in a surgeon's office-based facility, an outpatient surgical facility, or in a hospital. The type of anesthesia used is usually either local or regional anesthesia, commonly combined with sedation, or general anesthesia or light sleep anesthesia.

Recovery after marionette line correction will depend upon the particular procedure. Botox injections involve minimal downtime and most patients are able to return to work and normal activities immediately. Other procedures have a more involved recovery. Botox injections are associated with very few risks, while other techniques may involve the risks of scarring, infection, and other complications.
