Micropeels & Microdermabrasion in Toronto
The best candidates for micropeels and microdermabrasion are physically healthy men and women with realistic expectations who are looking to improve the appearance of fine wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, areas of dryness, acne, blotchy skin, keratoses, large pores, milia, rhytides, sebaceous hyperplasia, small scars, and/or sun-damaged or uneven skin. Micropeels and microdermabrasion can take place in a surgeon's office-based facility or an outpatient surgical center. Micropeels typically take no more than ten minutes to complete while microdermabrasion can take between thirty minutes and an hour to complete. More than one treatment is typically required, and anesthesia is usually not needed for either procedure.
Some amount of temporary flaking or scaling, dryness of the skin and redness may occur after a micropeel. With microdermabrasion, the skin may feel flushed or hot and may appear red for the first day. With both procedures, patients can typically return to work and other normal activities right away, however sun exposure should be avoided for some time. Though complications are rare, the potential complications associated with microdermabrasion include bleeding, infection, hyperpigmentation and perforation. |
